Still have a question? Contact usResults & drying
Can every stain be removed?
No. Cleaning can remove or improve many everyday spots, but complete removal is not guaranteed. Results depend on the material, the stain, its age, and any previous treatment. Coffee, tea, and wine may need specialized treatment. Burns, fading, worn fibers, and permanent color loss cannot be reversed by cleaning.
What if I already tried cleaning the stain?
Tell us exactly what you used, including household remedies, and whether the appearance changed. Some products leave residue, affect dyes, or make a stain harder to treat. Avoid applying more products until the material and previous treatments have been reviewed.
Can pet stains and odors be removed?
It depends on how deeply the contamination has spread. Surface cleaning may not reach urine or odor in cushion filling, mattress layers, carpet padding, or the floor underneath. Share where accidents happened and any previous treatments when requesting an estimate. Complete odor removal cannot be promised from photos alone.
How long does a sofa take to dry?
Dodo’s average sofa drying time is about 10–12 hours with normal ventilation. This is an estimate, not a guarantee. Fabric, cushion thickness, temperature, humidity, and air movement can make drying faster or slower. Let the upholstery dry completely before using it. Carpet and rug drying times need to be estimated separately; the sofa range should not be assumed for them.
Why is morning better for mattress cleaning?
A morning appointment leaves more of the day for drying, so it is generally the better time to plan mattress cleaning. It does not guarantee the mattress will be ready that night. Use it only when completely dry, and leave bedding and the protector off until then. Some foam mattresses must not get wet; send the model or care instructions before choosing a cleaning method.
Fabrics & everyday care
Can every fabric be cleaned the same way?
No. Materials, dyes, backing, and construction can require different care. Send a clear photo of the manufacturer’s care label. A W code is not blanket permission for steam cleaning or machine extraction; some manufacturers specifically prohibit those methods. Delicate, unstable-dye, or dry-clean-only fabrics may need a specialist.
Can my area rug be cleaned at home?
That depends on its fibers, dyes, backing, construction, and condition. Some rugs can be cleaned in place; others need specialist treatment. Send the rug’s size, photos of both sides, and its label if available. Do not assume that a method suitable for installed carpet will also suit a wool, silk, or handmade rug.
What about children, pets, or fragrance sensitivities?
Mention sensitivities and other concerns before booking. Confirm the products, their label precautions, and when the area can be used again. Keep children and pets away from the work area and follow product-specific instructions afterward. Dryness alone does not replace those instructions. Ask about specific products rather than relying on a general “pet-safe” or “non-toxic” label.
What should I do right after a spill?
Blot gently with a clean, white absorbent cloth. Do not scrub, soak the area, or layer several cleaning products. Check the manufacturer’s care instructions before applying anything. For a delicate fabric, an unknown substance, or a large spill, seek material-specific advice before treating it. Avoid a one-size-fits-all home remedy.
How can I help cleaned items dry?
Keep air moving and leave the cleaned surface uncovered. Fans can help; air conditioning or a dehumidifier can help in a humid room. Open windows only if outdoor air is drier. Follow item-specific instructions for cushion positioning, and wait until items are completely dry before replacing covers or bedding and returning to normal use.
Planning your cleaning
What should I include in an estimate request?
Tell us what needs cleaning, the quantity, your ZIP code, and your preferred timing. Photos are optional. If you add them, include a full view, problem areas, and a care label when available. We review each request individually and may ask for more details before preparing an estimate.
Can I include different items in one request?
Yes. Add sofas, sectionals, armchairs, dining chairs, ottomans, mattresses, area rugs, or carpet to one request. Use quantities for matching items and describe anything different. This staging form lets you review a draft; it does not send it to Dodo Cleaning.
How should I prepare for a visit?
Clear small items and breakables, make a clear path to the work area, and remove bedding from a mattress. Point out stains, damage, and earlier cleaning attempts. Mention stairs, elevators, parking rules, and building access. Confirm vacuuming requirements and furniture-moving arrangements in advance; do not move heavy furniture on your own just for the appointment.
Do you serve my city or ZIP code?
Serving San Jose, the South Bay, the Peninsula, and surrounding Bay Area communities. We review requests from across the San Francisco Bay Area, including San Francisco and Daly City. Share your ZIP code and any parking or access details so we can check the route and availability.
Which cleaning method will be used?
The method should match the item, its care instructions, and its condition. Hot-water extraction, often called steam cleaning, applies solution and extracts it with loosened soil, but it is not suitable for every material. Confirm the specific method and products before booking rather than assuming every item receives the same treatment.
Service note. Questions about a particular material or treatment? Contact us to discuss the details before booking.
